Frequently Asked Questions

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process overwhelming experiences, reduce distress, and support adaptive healing. It uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping, or sound) to help the nervous system reprocess memories and restore regulation.

For more information visit the EMDRIA website here.

  • EMDR focuses less on talking through events and more on how the body and brain store them. Instead of analyzing every detail of a memory, EMDR works by activating the brain’s natural healing mechanisms. Many clients experience relief more quickly compared to weekly talk therapy, especially when trauma is stored somatically.

  • At this time I work with adults ages 18 and over.

  • No, I do not accept insurance. Services that I offer are self-pay.

  • EMDR intensives are extended sessions (3–6 hours) that insurance does not cover. Insurance companies only reimburse for traditional 45–60 minute sessions and do not recognize or reimburse the longer, extended session format. Because intensives fall outside the structure of standard weekly therapy, insurance companies will not authorize or cover them—no matter the clinical need.

Using insurance also requires assigning a diagnosis and sharing treatment details with your insurance company.

    Working outside insurance allows for:

    • Flexible, uninterrupted sessions tailored to your goals

    • Greater privacy, with your information kept confidential

    • Care focused on effectiveness rather than billing limits

For these same reasons, I am not able to provide a superbill.

  • I do not offer services in-person at this time.

I offer virtual EMDR via a HIPAA-compliant platform. Many clients find virtual EMDR just as effective and sometimes more comfortable.

  • Therapy intensives provide extended, focused time together so we can move through your goals in a deeper, more intentional way. To protect that dedicated space and ensure we’re not rushed, intensives are scheduled on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Availability is limited, so I recommend reaching out in advance to explore dates and determine whether an intensive is the right fit for you.

  • My practice is primarily focused on EMDR intensives. In some cases, I may offer short-term, goal-focused EMDR, depending on availability and client needs.
